Outdoor Decorating Ideas for Fall

Source

The front of your home is the easiest place to spruce up Fall decor and by far the most exciting.

As we learned from our previous post, Fall is all about designing with warm colors. Here are some creative ways to decorate your outdoors for the Fall.

Quick Tips:

1. As with indoor decor, add pieces with Fall or seasonal elements.
2. Fill an old washtub with fall flowers such as wheat stems, fir branches, holly leaves and berries. Use real or fake ones to create your look. It's really your choice. Using real ones can be a little time consuming as you have to go and pick them but can be the most rewarding.
3. Create a door wreath made from fall leaves or a make one out of a monogrammed leaf wreath.

4. Change the doormat into something seasonal; either something monogrammed or maybe a Halloween inspired one in the shape of a cobweb. There's so many to choose from. So many home decor stores have a lot of them on sale. I suggest going to the Christmas Tree Shop if you have that store anywhere near you. They are great at stocking seasonal home decor pieces.
5. Go crazy with pumpkins!! We all love them and we all love decorating with them and let's face it nothing screams "FALL" like pumpkins do.

  • Place them on the ends of each step.
  • Draw pictures of spiders and bats with a sharpie
  • Stack small ones on top of each other and write the number of your home.

  • Group them together to create a unified but beautiful corner with fall leaves as the backdrop.
6. Create a wheel barrel welcoming cart with pumpkins and other fall related veggies.(Try fake ones of course.) You can find wheelbarrows at thrift shops or flea markets.

7. Try a fresh coat of paint for your door. I know it sounds strange to paint an entire door for the season but just trust me and try it! It is the first thing people see when they come to your home and it will make a big difference. Try fall colors in green or mustard yellow, oranges and deep reds. Make sure you use outdoor paint for this project.

Question for you: Do you decorate your outdoor entry for Fall?
