Quick and Easy Small Bathroom Redesign

color adds personality to any room and my favorite shade of blue is made by benjamin moore for pottery barn. the modern flair it brings with its shades of gray brings this contemporary bathroom to light.

the problem:
- plain white walls
- unorganized shower baskets crammed with products
- no defined storage for cosmetics and essentials
the design:

- blue gray walls with a white medicine cabinet and a touch of beige pizazz
- under sink and in shower storage
the outcome:

tranquil and organized haven of blue with a warm look and feel to it. white cabinet over toilet houses medicinal products as well as adds a balance to the room. the shower caddy needed some sprucing up to do - so i purchased an odd funky looking one that steers clear of the old fashioned metal ones and keeps items organized. underneath is usually the toughest to organize but i found some underneath the sink organizer shelves from the container store that worked wonders around the pipes. the key to any organized room is to always find a permanent place for things.

Quick Ways to Update Your Bedroom and Add Storage

the owner of this room is a seamstress. Her materials were all over the room with no defined areas to store and successfully be able to use them when needed. on top of her sewing machine, she stored bags of fabrics and boxes full of threads. her clutter had gotten so out of control that she was UNABLE to use the machine so it became a permanent eye sore.

This room had several problems when I first tackled it. the lack of organization was predominant and clutter was everywhere. the project had to be completed in a very short time so the before pictures went forgotten.

the problem:

- corners were filled with clutter and cans of sewing materials.
- no defined space for working - bags of material had to be removed from the top of her sewing machine before she worked. this would inhibit her from ever wanting to work.
- unmatched furniture. one piece was an armoire with a 1980's flair -(beige with gold trimmings), cherry-wood bedroom set, light wood lingerie drawer, black steel bed frame and a light wood desk area with loads of clutter.
- walls were white with patches of off beige madness everywhere.
- the budget was low. i also had to deal with a pack rat. she wanted nothing THROWN away. good thing was she was open to any color except red.

the design:
Modern Contemporary: The colors I choose was a soothing palette of green hues and natural cherry-wood with black and white accents.

the outcome:

i made centers for each function she wanted her room for.

- her sewing area
- her computer area

The outcome resulted in rich cherry wood matching pieces, a tranquil green space that was also functional with beautiful decorative accents of green and natural tones.

..Be Clutter free!

your home is your wonderland! why not treat it as such?

having clutter not only inhibits you from finding things, it also creates chaos at home and in your mind. having a well organized space leads to productivity. if you can't find the pens to sign your business proposal, how will you prosper? the key is to have a system. making functional centers is key to an organized space that will benefit you - also, determine placement so that you know exactly where things go after use. make homes for all of your items - even if it means labeling them until you memorize their placement. make sure you keep things organized by returning items to their home. you will lose things from time to time but at least you will know where it was supposed to go....

i will show you some examples of well organized spaces shortly!
do you have an organized space? do you need help in de-cluttering? email me today and it'll be organized tomorrow!

Energy Saving Tip of the Day

...make sure that refrigerator doors are sealed tight since energy can escape. a simple way to check is to place a paper in the door, half in and half out, close the door and remove the paper. if the paper slides out easily, you may have to get your doors resealed...

Apartment Therapy from KG Style

if you are like the rest of us city dwellers, then you've realized that space is sometimes not a luxury..especially for parents that may have to share a room with a child. it is not the end of the world and it doesn't have to be an uncomfortable situation.

the problem:
i've created a unique space desi
gned with your child in mind but leaving room for the adult in you..
as you will see with my designs, a lot of my ideas come from various types of inspirations...
this one came from my dream of always wanting
to have a tree house..

but being blessed with city streets, concrete and traffic lights...my dream was halted.
the design:
i used some of the same colors..used the same concept for my design.....
the design: creating a tree like area with the same form of privacy for the adult, with space for the child below..
the furniture: loft bed, toddler bed, desk, bookshelf, small night stand with colorful accessories in various child like colors.
the outcome:

the loft bed became a safe and quiet haven for the adult while remaining both spacious and comfortable for the child.

..that's style...
