Happy Halloween Friends!

Hope you all have a fantastic day today - with the kiddies or enjoying the Halloween parties!!

Just wanted to take the time out and express my gratitude to the people that have already donated to the "Pay it Forward" campaign. Hopefully, by the end of the year, we can have enough to pay someone's bill (especially after Christmas) Let's see how it goes. Please continue to support us and share this blog post to others.

In case you missed any of our posts, here's a quick rundown on what we had in store this October.

We started the month of teaching you how to Decorate For Fall and since we were on hiatus for about two months, in The All New Touched, we had to let you know the reasons for the absence. Most of you guys cheered us on as we went from not only interior design but beauty tips such as The Top 10 Concealers, Beauty Tips for the Work at Home Woman and of course How To Design Your Vanity. They were also impressed that we knew how obsessive the beauty industry and its followers are by sharing in What's New In Makeup 2013? I don't know how women spend so much money. Does that make you cringe? Well, turn your frown upside down and help me find Waldo. He must be in there somewhere. Or maybe he's just gotten slimmer with his Green Juices and Quick 15 Minute Workouts that he can't be spotted anymore. He totally Inspires our fitness journey. What inspires you? He is, however, a strange fellow that one but who isn't? If you aren't afraid to be crazy and Think Different - and you aspire to be just like him - or Steve Jobs. Speaking of Jobs, I'm sure he's had days where he's felt not so great about what he did and so we channeled him a little in Confessions of an Interior Designer. It was a glimpse into the mind of a NYC raised child who often dreams of her home city and goes around singing Empire State of Mind. But design we did, as we took you through how to Design your Patio area just in time for Halloween (which I'm sure you've all done already) and now you can relax and unwind in your living space that doesn't really have sofas. No Sofas Needed, right? A space can be inviting without it. Trust us. We know what we're talking about here. But if you want something a little more comfortable, head on over to your bedroom and relax in your new room that has been designed with new Headboards and Lighting.  Lighting changes a room significantly. Now go on and enjoy your MONDAY! (Oh wait, it's only Thursday ..getting ahead of myself..) Which can only mean one thing...

IT'S HALLOWEEN!! And pretty soon, you'll have kids knocking at your door. Go answer and learn How To Entertain the Trick or Treaters

Have a great day and don't forget to think about what makes the world go 'round and that's Paying It Forward - for Breast Cancer, for Families In Need or for any cause that's dear to your heart.

HAVE A GREAT HALLOWEEN FRIENDS!

We'd like you to....

Hi Friends!

I have an AMAZING series of posts coming your way! In these posts, we will invite you to PAY IT FORWARD with Touched. Haven't decided on a set day of when it will be but maybe you can help me out. It'll be like volunteering from your computer screen.

Our first "completely for charity" event will be our Touched T-shirts. The Touched logo with the pink ribbon will go to the nationalbreastcancer.org and can be purchased at ANY time - not just only during the month of October. When the links are up and running, I will send the link via newsletter so if you aren't already subscribed, please do so below.

The regular Touched Shirts will have just our regular logo and it can be purchased shortly as well. Proceeds for this T-shirt sale will benefit a family in need. Help them pay an important bill like their utility bill, rent and anything else that can help keep them afloat! We hope to raise a couple of hundreds so we can help at least 2 families a month and with your help, maybe more.

Although the T-shirts aren't up and running (we ran into an sizing snafu), Right now, you can donate here. Will you please help a family out and pay it forward? No amount of money you give today is too small so don't be afraid to donate a dollar! :)

Also, if you are a company and wish to donate an item for me to sell, please email me at kgstyle@gmail.com and lets discuss!

For Today, our small token of "Paying it Forward" is to invite you to become a follower of these amazing people below who always happen to put a smile on my face. Stop by and say hi and let them know that Touched sent you! :)

Weekend Wayfarers: eDesign Questions Answered

Since today is client shopping day, we decided to make this post about a question we get asked of us a lot.

We are, Touched by KG Style Designs. A full service interior design firm.  We also have what is called an interactive website with tips on home design, beauty and health tips and inspirational articles. We also have a section of curated home decor collections for you to choose from. Our main goal is to design your space into something so beautiful, you'd never want to leave but we have learned along the way, that it takes more than just a home design to make a person feel happy. So we of course came up with our new company focus, "Life Redesigned." You can read all about it here.

Today's episode will touch on eDesign or e-decorating, or online interior design, and what it is!! We've gotten a lot of questions so here is the gist of what it is.

Edesign is basically a thought out plan for your interior space that is done COMPLETELY virtually. We use the same tools that we would if we traveled to your home but the legwork is done by you or your contractor.  We guide you through the entire process through emails and chats.

We offer a wide range of things to choose from so it doesn't have to be just a full scale interior design plan but you can pick and choose which things you need help in and go from there.

SAMPLE DESIGN BOARD

  • Design Boards: Used to show you items that could potentially work in your home and creating a visual board so that you can see visually how your designed space will come together.
  • Color Consultation: Picking and choosing the right colors for your space.
  • Space Planning: Crucial for any space. Helps determine proper use of space and flow.
  • Lighting Plan: Help you create great lighting which is detrimental to each space. Lighting can make a room look larger or smaller.
  • Window Treatments
  • Accessories: The design board above is an accessories designed board - used to help the client give the room she was designing, it's finishing touches. We give you choices in accessories, art work and we choose a lot of things from our own collections.
  • Ask a Designer: While this blog is full of design tips, if you do have a specific design question, we provide a more in depth answer to your dilemma. And last but not least:
  • Full Service Design Package: which includes pretty much all the above along with a fantastic shopping list and if required, some DIY projects.
Hope this answers your edesign questions and you can always check out our design services here.

Bookmark our website and blog and think of us when wanting to design your space.  We look forward to working with each and every one of our fantastic followers and repeat clients. As always, if you''re not already, take a moment to subscribe. Fill out the form down below and enjoy the benefits of being a Cool Kid.

5 Beauty Tips for the Work At Home Woman

On Today's episode of Touched Beauty...

Many in-office jobs have been replaced by the home office. If you're a work-at-home-mom, your job probably requires a dress code of pajamas, sweatpants and old t-shirts. So when do you get to make yourself pretty?  Probably once a week on a date with your husband or an outing with your girlfriends. It's time to regain our regimen and look pretty for ourselves - even if our children will be the only ones to see it.

Question for you: Do you get dolled up - even just a little for your Work At Home job?

Tips to Entertain: Trick or Treaters

So you've decorated your home and all ready to receive trick or treaters? But how do you get them there?  Instead of just handing out candy, here's a few tips to entertain them.

Source

1. Lighting is crucial!!! Here's why? If they see your front entrance is dark, they will assume you have no candy for them and they will move on to the next house. If what you are creating is a creepy atmosphere, just leave something on - a pumpkin with a light on..a dimly lit porch light, a skull head with lighted eyes (you get the picture) - ANYTHING that will let them know you are interested in their knocking.

SHOP AT TOUCHED!!

2. Decorate, decorate, decorate. Nothing beats a non-knocked on door than no decorations. Have something up and make it as creative as you can.  I suggest making it visual to all aged kids since you might scare the little ones off. Here's a cool trick: Have something interactive such as a scary witch (or any interactive creature) in front of the door that will either say something to greet your guests. Jut remember, don't make it too scary!

3. Have some good candy! Nothing will stop the train of trick-or-treaters knocking on your door than bad candy! Trust me, word gets around. Don't give out healthy items like raisins and granola bars. I'm sure their parents will look through their baskets anyway and it's Halloween..it is what they look forward to.

Source
4. Dress the part but don't act too creepy! Halloween is a time for fright but don't scare the kids away. Jumping out of bushes or opening the door as Michael Myers is going to garnish nothing but screams and runs and like I said before, word gets around...they will NOT come back!!

5. Enjoy yourself!! Bring out your inner child - at least for one day and enjoy the trick-or-treaters that come to your door. For one day, forget your worries, your troubles, your stresses and just let go and have fun!! If the parents allow you, take pics of the coolest costumes and if they are neighborhood kids, make a collage and place it outside your door for them to enjoy the week after.

Question for you: Will you be entertaining trick-or-treaters? Share with us some tips on how you do it.

Confessions of an Interior Designer

Many of you don't know but I work as the Marketing Director for my brother's company, Gsting Labs. It is a creative collaboration of artists from logo designers, web designers, cake makers, cartoonist, illustrators and videographers. I, of course, am the interior designer in the crew but I also manage most media campaigns and marketing strategies for the company.

I wrote this blog post for the Gsting Labs blog post. It is a little more personal than what you'd expect from KG Style Designs but nonetheless, I think it's worth sharing.

Check out the article here and let me know in the comments down below, what you thought of it!!

Thanks, friends!!

Be Touched: Lose to Win

Source

"Sometimes you gotta lose...to win again!" - Fantasia

On Today's episode of Be Touched...

Sometimes it's hard to let go of something that isn't right for you, whether it's a job, relationship or situation, we tend to hold on to things that no longer work for us. It's said that we have a "no-quitter" gene in us that makes us fight to the end and while that may be true, what happens when we absolutely know it isn't right for us? We hold on anyway.

Other times, the things we are losing are out of our complete control. We lose a job because we get laid off, a relationship fails because the other person had us in the dark, or a situation happens unexpectedly like a natural disaster. I think it is in these times, that we must learn to lose to win again.

Losing isn't the end all to everything. Personally, and I don't usually go personal on my business blog, but I've gone through a few setbacks the last few months which made me abandon all of my followers and even clients but I took it as a time of reflection for my company, my family and most importantly myself. I learned what I wanted and needed more than ever and that was to "Inspire" so I started my new company focus "Life Redesigned" as many of you have read in my "What's New With Touched" blog post.

My company goals are simple: to inspire each and every one of you to not only design your interior space but redesign the things that can potentially make you happy. Topics include Design Tips, Event Designs, Beauty Tips, Health & Fitness Tips and Stories and Articles to Inspire your Inner Beauty and my ultimate goal of Paying it Forward. I want you to travel through our blog and website like the pages of a magazine - finding inspiration for every part of life.

Since my team and I have been working on the 30 Day Ultimate Blog Challenge, we have decided to stay as much as possible to that goal but this time we will only do 5 days a week. Our weekends are usually client and shopping meetings but we will try to post at least what we shop for..take you along with us on our shopping day as we did last Saturday on our Weekend Wayfarers: Shop with Touched blog post. Can't wait to share with you three amazing designs and coincidentally ALL with the Paris theme. How did that happen? :)

I hope that whatever you are losing out on becomes a time of reflection for you and you feel like you are able to move on from it. There's no way out of the bottom than going up. Meditate, go for a nice long walk, make a plan for learning to live with what you've just lost, put on your nicest clothes, throw on some makeup and most importantly, smile through the tears!! Your pain on the inside will eventually catch up to the smile on the outside.

"Smile...IT WON'T MESS UP YOUR HAIR!

New York State of Mind

I know what I'm needing and I don't want to waste more time....

NY often calls me home but not to stay. My life has brought my company to the sunshine state but can't help it every time and again to sit and reminisce of the beauty that is NYC! It is a "concrete jungle" as the phrase that Alicia Keys and Jay-Z coined but to me it's just home. And will always be home..No matter how far from it, I stray away.

Have you ever been to NYC?
