Event: "Cute as a Button" Baby Shower Theme

i wanted to do a sophisticated take on the "Cute As A Button" idea I had seen. I came up with this very adorable theme and used buttons wherever possible. The mother-to-be was having a girl so I chose a soft pink and soft gray combination.

The Invite
The invite was custom made by one of our Etsy Shop "This Old Thing"  designers. We have it on hand in case you would like this invite for your own event.

Party Details

I recently designed this cute as a button theme baby shower.  The mother to be LOVED pink and so I knew I would be working with that - especially since she was having a girl. I wanted it to be pink and very girly but with a dash of sophistication.
For this party, we focused mostly on the table and made it into a dessert area. The star of the dessert table was the stunning cake made by Lyndie of Lyndie's Cakes.  The mom-to-be wanted a pregnant belly cake and so she mimicked our color pattern of soft pink and gray and added the cutest buttons to the cake dress. Lyndie also made cute buttons and needles made out of fondant to top our cupcakes.  The incredible cake pops were made by my an Etsy shop owner who I love. I love how she customized it with the mom-to-be's name and date of shower. My husband made the onesie cookies and covered them in pink and white fondant. We used apothecary vases and filled them with even more goodies - gumdrops and sixlets in coordinating colors.
The picture I used to center the table was an Anne Geddes' picture I printed and added the words "Cute as a Button" with the "O" being an actual pink button I purchased at Michael's. On a separate plate, I placed the cute favor boxes made by another etsy shop owner. I thought they came out wonderfully!
It came out beautiful and the mom-to-be loved it! Hope you enjoyed it as well.

Event: "I Love Lucy" Inspired Theme

i had the pleasure to work on my niece's 1st birthday party! The darling girl was born on Valentine's Day so anything love related was appropriate. I, of course, did not want to do the generic valentine's hearts and pink and red - I thought of something a little more vintage and never before seen.

I got my inspiration one night while going through my DVD's - I came across these images. I instantly thought of the red heart that is part of the opening of the show and the black and white polka dot dress she so often wore with her red lipstick. These things became part of my decor. I made it a little younger by also adding the red and white polka dots.

Table decor was a cardboard wrapped with polka dot and red strips going across the table. Vases were full of black and white sand white red gravel to top them. The main centerpiece was a white frame (purchased at Michael's for a dollar) and some scrapbook embellishments. I made the pictures black and white to keep the vintage feel going.

It was by far one of the best themes I've ever done and would love to do again!
