Happy Halloween Friends!

Hope you all have a fantastic day today - with the kiddies or enjoying the Halloween parties!!

Just wanted to take the time out and express my gratitude to the people that have already donated to the "Pay it Forward" campaign. Hopefully, by the end of the year, we can have enough to pay someone's bill (especially after Christmas) Let's see how it goes. Please continue to support us and share this blog post to others.

In case you missed any of our posts, here's a quick rundown on what we had in store this October.

We started the month of teaching you how to Decorate For Fall and since we were on hiatus for about two months, in The All New Touched, we had to let you know the reasons for the absence. Most of you guys cheered us on as we went from not only interior design but beauty tips such as The Top 10 Concealers, Beauty Tips for the Work at Home Woman and of course How To Design Your Vanity. They were also impressed that we knew how obsessive the beauty industry and its followers are by sharing in What's New In Makeup 2013? I don't know how women spend so much money. Does that make you cringe? Well, turn your frown upside down and help me find Waldo. He must be in there somewhere. Or maybe he's just gotten slimmer with his Green Juices and Quick 15 Minute Workouts that he can't be spotted anymore. He totally Inspires our fitness journey. What inspires you? He is, however, a strange fellow that one but who isn't? If you aren't afraid to be crazy and Think Different - and you aspire to be just like him - or Steve Jobs. Speaking of Jobs, I'm sure he's had days where he's felt not so great about what he did and so we channeled him a little in Confessions of an Interior Designer. It was a glimpse into the mind of a NYC raised child who often dreams of her home city and goes around singing Empire State of Mind. But design we did, as we took you through how to Design your Patio area just in time for Halloween (which I'm sure you've all done already) and now you can relax and unwind in your living space that doesn't really have sofas. No Sofas Needed, right? A space can be inviting without it. Trust us. We know what we're talking about here. But if you want something a little more comfortable, head on over to your bedroom and relax in your new room that has been designed with new Headboards and Lighting.  Lighting changes a room significantly. Now go on and enjoy your MONDAY! (Oh wait, it's only Thursday ..getting ahead of myself..) Which can only mean one thing...

IT'S HALLOWEEN!! And pretty soon, you'll have kids knocking at your door. Go answer and learn How To Entertain the Trick or Treaters

Have a great day and don't forget to think about what makes the world go 'round and that's Paying It Forward - for Breast Cancer, for Families In Need or for any cause that's dear to your heart.

HAVE A GREAT HALLOWEEN FRIENDS!

All Hail the Breasts (...there's only one problem!)

According to nationalbreastcancer.org, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That's an alarming huge percentage! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we here at Touched have rounded up our best "pink" articles.

If you haven't already, click on the pic to read our COVER STORY!

We designed the girliest "Pink" Party for a client with pink cakes, diamonds and tiaras. It was a girltastic extravaganza! My inspiration was of course the beautiful and incomparable,
Marilyn Monroe.

Click on the pic to see the full Blog post on how we designed this Girly Bash.

We also designed this very Pink and Gray baby shower. It was so much fun to create. Client gave us her colors and we ran with the theme.

Click on the pic to see the full Blog post on how we designed this beautiful baby shower.

My husband has designed this wonderful Shimballah bracelet for breast cancer awareness month. Isn't he talented? There's only one slight problem: he is only selling ONE! Or is he? To order, drop me a note at kgstyle@gmail.com

$20
I hope you enjoyed this short but sweet post! We are thinking of ALL of you who have experienced breast cancer or know someone who has. It's tough but we as a human race have a right to help others who are less fortunate than us whether in health, wealth or in anything. That's why I started the PAY IT FORWARD section of our company. We haven't put it in gear just yet but give us some time and we will have the donation button up for you!  Whatever little you have that you may think is little to you, can do a world of difference to someone in need. Once donations start pouring in, we will donate the money to a family in need to help pay a hospital bill, a utility bill, rent..anything!!

Would you help us by donating? If so, please subscribe at the bottom of this page to stay in the know when the Pay it Forward section will be up and running.!

Thanks so much for the support!!!  WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

THANKS FRIENDS!

What's New With Touched

A lot has been going on since our last full blogging schedule. We've added a "touch" less color to our blog and simplified our look! Hope you like it.

Our most exciting piece of information is that our company has a NEW FOCUS!! We've taken the bits and pieces of everything you love about life and boiled it up into one website.  Look to our website for inspirations in Home and Event Design, Health & Fitness, Beauty Tips and Inspirations for a daily life. Our website will be a go-to place for quick inspirations for redesigning your home using details, health and fitness tips such as our favorite green recipes, articles on how to "redesign" your total happiness by helping you cope with the Monday Blues and beauty articles on the TOP 10: Concealers.

We call this "new" focus:

At our website, we do still sell pretty cute and unique home decor pieces at our store but now we have smaller, more curated collections.

The blog will still be our go - to for design tips.
Our theme this month is Fall Decor - so stay tuned every MONDAY for advice on how to decorate your home, outdoor space or event for the beautiful colors and feel that is AUTUMN.
Spend your entire October here and interact with us as we take you along on an interesting all around journey through our new topics...on our blog and on our website! Make sure to subscribe at the bottom of this page to stay in the loop.

Here's a few quick links for you:

Event Designer vs Event Planners

I've had so much work in the coming months and more to come as I embark on a few new projects and while I love planning events, I have dialed down the job description or what my company stands for from event planners to event designers.   This makes more sense for everyone involved in working with me - because let's face it, interior design and event design resemble each other and go together quite nicely and we just don't have the time to plan big events anymore.

But what is the difference between an event planner and an event designer?

Event planners are all about the “logistics for the day”. Who is the DJ, when will the florist arrive? How many rooms do I need to block at the local hotel for the out of town guests? Event Designers are all about the “look and feel for the day”. Does this flower go with the rustic outdoor event the client wants? Is lighting going to make a difference in the ballroom? What color linens best look best for this type of venue? Event Planners have a tougher job in ensuring your day whether a baby shower, wedding, child's party - goes well and runs smoothly. They work with you to choose vendors and venues that will fit into your big day nicely. Event designers on the other hand are hired to make sure your day looks well put together. From invitations, to flowers, to linens and lighting - Event designers are the fashion stylists of your event!!

So our services will now include:

- Beauty Lounge and Forum (Coming soon)

In the future, please look out for our Beauty Lounge and Forum where we discuss new beauty items and where you can shop for vanity decor items and also Touched is coming to a mobile truck stop near you as we take our online shop on wheels and straight to your town!!

Quick Q&A regarding Our Touched Online Store

As my faithful followers know, I have opened up an online store and many have asked a few questions about them.

What does your online store carry?
My online store will feature unique home decor pieces and home furnishings. Pillows, signs, vases, home accents, anything unique and eccentric - that will be us. It will officially launch March 1st but we decided to do a soft launch for Valentine's Day.
Here's a sample of our products:

I love the heart and box sign sayings. How do they really look?
Here's a few of our Valentine's box sign sayings. Our smallest one measures 4x5  - handcrafted and made of wood. You can put them on your desk, your counter top for an easy Valentine's Day Decor or gift them to the special person in your life.

The heart signs are so cute. How do you design with them?
Once again our signs are handcrafted and made of wood and these particular heart signs have a ribbon that you can use to hang them from just about anywhere. Our small ones come with a set of 3. (pink, white and red..see picture above) with cute little different sayings on them. Makes a really cute gift.

You can hang the big one outside of your door.

Can you show me more of your items?
Here's a lovely picture frame.

And by far my favorite item for the "Love Collection" is this gorgeous light box. It's small enough so it's not obnoxious but cute enough to sit on your side table or vanity. The words "ALWAYS" lights up when turned on and it reads "Always and Forever."

Here's some cute linen pillow covers from the "Love Collection"

And last but not least, the cutest selection for Valentine's Day in keychains and trinkets...

Remember,......The first 20 purchases will be automatically entered to win this lovely "Love" necklace below. Find out the rules here.

Happy SHOPPING!!! Valentine's is soon approaching so order soon.

CHALLENGE: Best apps for a busy workday!!

What if my computer broke down? How would I conduct business? Could I conduct business just from my iPad and IPhone?

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!
Today, my challenge is to conduct business as usual using only these devices. So did I accomplish it? How did I do it?

Here's how I did it:

My day always starts out with a Tweet and a Facebook post. Both iPhone and iPad have integrated these two vital social networks within their OS. so it's quick and easy to post a quick update and a quick tweet.

I then look,at any emails for any Etsy orders since they are time sensitive using the Etsy app. I usually have several orders that I need to disperse to my designers so I have to write the details and send them off. I get paid via Paypal so I look at the app to check the balance.

My Contact Us form is powered by JotForm and they have an app!! I can access notes that clients have sent me through there. They can be as specific or general as they choose. I usually have about 2 to three contacts.

If I've had any previous design orders or e-consultations, I look into Quicksale and check for any open invoices and new invoices to send to clients for work estimated or started. I use Googke Voice for my business line at the time and Dropbox for all my files for easy access. Blogspy allows me to write this very blog post from my iPad and Efax lets me fax anyone their potential marketing, event or design plan if they choose Fax over email.

I then view the insights on my Facebook business page using Facebook Page Manager. From here, I can check to see if my promoted ads have been reaching potential clients. I Instagram my Daily Design Tips and I tweet and Retweet any new interior design news. I pin any new design from my website or blog.

The last big thing of the day is to work on any layouts and mood boards for new clients using Home Design and Moodboard, respectively.

And that's how I did it!!!! And now I get to relax in bed and watch Steel Magnolias (which I've never seen) in bed on my Netflix app.

TRY THE CHALLENGE AND POST ON OUR FACEBOOK HOW YOU DID IT!!!

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

We lost a visionary, a man who taught us to "Think Different." We lost a man who never wanted to conform to rules (that being PC) and who's main idea was to think outside the box. Long before iPhones and iPods, Steve and his co-owner also named Steve, came up with their first public computer, Apple 1. That was around 1980. By the time I attended high school in 1992, I was already loving the Apple interface, the icons, the way it moved and thus started my love for all things Apple.

The man behind the Apple Logo!

This video and message moved me! And still does. It encompasses everything that I and KG STYLE DESIGNS stand for! He changed my perception of things and helped shape my vision.

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Apple Inc.

Steve Jobs said this about the campaign and video: "It honors those people who have changed the world! Some of them are living, some of them are aren't. But you know if they would have been living and using a computer, it would have been a MAC!"

What do you think of this message and video? What's your vision? And what Apple products do you use for your business or for blogging!

Let's discuss on FB!

Best,
