Whimsical Wednesdays...

Whimsical Wednesdays
..Around the web in a week.....

We always find things on the world wide web that catch our interest...We think they are cute, or we'd like to someday incorporate them in our homes or lives. Pinterest gave me the inspiration for Whimsical Wednesdays - where we give you a week's worth of cool things!!

1. This is one refrigerator I would love to have in my home. When closed - it doesn't even look like somewhere to store food!

2. Accessorize with these cute little handmade pillows! So fab and so chic. Handmade from a Turkish company, you can order them on Etsy. Secdus - $51

5. Toronto Raptor fans get a load of these super kick ass sneakers! You can even monogram the inside flaps for a custom look. One Off Kicks - $300.

6. Pink is the color this spring and while it's not an easy shade to work into a scheme - especially if men reside in the space - used as an accent to an all white room, it's elegant and uplifting!

7. Would you dare do this? Hanging ceiling beds! I would...! It is just amazing.
Love these beds!

8. Some people collect vintage suitcases and use them in a variety of ways - most popularly, the side table. But have you ever seen them used this way? Would you try this?

9. Pop-up home offices don't come much more stylish than Antonio Clitterio's folding Spoon desk for Katrell. The orange color gives it a much needed pop in an otherwise boring room. It's super easy to fold up when you want to banish the office.

Hope you enjoyed these! Tune in next Wednesday for another Whimsical Wednesdays from around the web!

One ruffled pillow adds a touch of texture to a plain room but if you assemble them with others with different colors, the look becomes an aesthetically pleasing pillow garden.

Who knew lamps could be this cute? Placing one in a modern room, adds a touch of softness without being too feminine. This particular one is from Anthropologie but you'd be surprised at how easy it is to DIY.

Featured Item Friday: Breakfast at Tiffany's Invitation

Isn't she just fab? Years later..and she still remains a fashion icon and an inspiration to every girl. Young or old, we can admire the incomparable Aubrey Hepburn. She's inspired my logo, my look, my website design and one of my biggest sought after events.

My Breakfast atTiffany's Inspired baby Shower is always a hit and people either want to replicate it or want me to design their bridal, baby or just their birthday party with it.

Sometimes, they just need a little help executing the design. Who am I to refuse to help? So, I came up with what I call a Custom Inspiration Board

We provide you with photos for inspiration and links to resources to purchase products or instructions to do-it-yourself-projects. And of course, not just with the Tiffany inspired board but with any design you'd like!

But our Featured Item Friday - is the Breakfast at Tiffany's Inspired Invitation.

So chic and elegant just like she is!  "Brunch" can be changed to "Breakfast", "Dinner" - Any wording of your choice here. Order at our Etsy Shop and get your items TODAY!

Event: "Cute as a Button" Baby Shower Theme

i wanted to do a sophisticated take on the "Cute As A Button" idea I had seen. I came up with this very adorable theme and used buttons wherever possible. The mother-to-be was having a girl so I chose a soft pink and soft gray combination.

The Invite
The invite was custom made by one of our Etsy Shop "This Old Thing"  designers. We have it on hand in case you would like this invite for your own event.

Party Details

I recently designed this cute as a button theme baby shower.  The mother to be LOVED pink and so I knew I would be working with that - especially since she was having a girl. I wanted it to be pink and very girly but with a dash of sophistication.
For this party, we focused mostly on the table and made it into a dessert area. The star of the dessert table was the stunning cake made by Lyndie of Lyndie's Cakes.  The mom-to-be wanted a pregnant belly cake and so she mimicked our color pattern of soft pink and gray and added the cutest buttons to the cake dress. Lyndie also made cute buttons and needles made out of fondant to top our cupcakes.  The incredible cake pops were made by my an Etsy shop owner who I love. I love how she customized it with the mom-to-be's name and date of shower. My husband made the onesie cookies and covered them in pink and white fondant. We used apothecary vases and filled them with even more goodies - gumdrops and sixlets in coordinating colors.
The picture I used to center the table was an Anne Geddes' picture I printed and added the words "Cute as a Button" with the "O" being an actual pink button I purchased at Michael's. On a separate plate, I placed the cute favor boxes made by another etsy shop owner. I thought they came out wonderfully!
It came out beautiful and the mom-to-be loved it! Hope you enjoyed it as well.

If you have a theme in mind for your next event and need help executing it, we can help you create an inspiration design board. For more info, visit our etsy shop.

Event: "I Love Lucy" Inspired Theme

i had the pleasure to work on my niece's 1st birthday party! The darling girl was born on Valentine's Day so anything love related was appropriate. I, of course, did not want to do the generic valentine's hearts and pink and red - I thought of something a little more vintage and never before seen.

I got my inspiration one night while going through my DVD's - I came across these images. I instantly thought of the red heart that is part of the opening of the show and the black and white polka dot dress she so often wore with her red lipstick. These things became part of my decor. I made it a little younger by also adding the red and white polka dots.

Table decor was a cardboard wrapped with polka dot and red strips going across the table. Vases were full of black and white sand white red gravel to top them. The main centerpiece was a white frame (purchased at Michael's for a dollar) and some scrapbook embellishments. I made the pictures black and white to keep the vintage feel going.

It was by far one of the best themes I've ever done and would love to do again!
What do you think of it? View more pics at our FB gallery!

House Hunting: Just Build Your Own Home

house hunting can be so chaotic, exhilarating and stressful all at the same time. You see something you love and immediately start picturing your life and your things in them. Sometimes the price isn't right for you or it's too little for the amount of money you have to spend on it. Sometimes, the repairs outweigh the beauty of it and through it all you'd need a contractor to gut the whole thing.

That's why I'm writing this blog post today. Why not build your dream home? I know it sounds scary but think about how in control you'll be about the things you want and need in your home. From staircases to bathrooms to open space kitchens, it'll be all in your hands!
